" I " Now Pronounce You Husband & Wife?

Yeah, that's right... You read that correctly. In one of my biggest steps to date of being an Ordained Minister, for the first time ever, I will be joining a man and woman in the bonds of holy matrimony later TODAY!

I have to admit that I have more than one butterfly fluttering away in my stomach. The only other thing I've done in any "official capacity" was to reside over Becky's grandmother's burial. That one was easy. Her funeral had already taken place in Florida. She was brought back to Illinois to be buried next to her late husband. All I had to do was say a small prayer and do the "ashes to ashes" part at the grave site and witness the lowering of the casket. Becky, my Mother-In-Law, Father-In-Law, Step Mother-In-Law and four people that worked at the cemetery was all that were in attendance. Unfortunately, it was a sad occasion to have to perform as my very first act as a Minister. But it went off without a hitch and I took pride in what I had just accomplished.

From that time we flash forward four months ago. Becky's co-worker and friend has two of her best friends getting married. They are looking for someone to perform the service for them. Becky says, "Matt would probably do it!"

With that, Becky's friend called me and asked me if I would do it for them. I answered, "Yes".

Flash forward to today. TODAY!!! How did four months go by so quickly? Well, the good news is that the rehearsal last night went very smooth. But now it's time for the "real deal"! This time a few more than just 8 people will be witnessing this. More like 200 this time.

But it's really not the number of people in attendance that has my hands a little shaky. It's actually the fact that there are just two people actually counting on me and not for just some small random task.

Two people have put their full faith and trust unto me to give them what will be one the most greatest, biggest and memorable things they will ever do together! Every girl dreams of her wedding day. That one perfect day where nothing goes wrong.

That's a lot of pressure to put on a guy, ya know?!!!

Let's just hope I do a little better than poor Rowan Atkinson in the movie "Four Weddings and a Funeral" did! Give it a quick look see...

I'll let you all know how it went on Sunday. But at 5:30 PM Chicago, Illinois time, if you could all lower your heads and give a little prayer my way I'd appreciate it. I'll take any help I can get! LOL!

Until next time... PEACE!

Good luck dude!

I think the hardest choice for me, if I was in your shoes would be "Should I wear the Matman costume or not?"

LOL Iggy - Matman costume.

You'll do great Matt. I have total faith in you.

Now if you can just keep Becky sober...

Put on your big boy pants, you will do fine. They will be so nervous themselves anyway! Prayers your way!

Hope everything goes smoothly later.

I'm not sure what time that is here, but I expect I'll be asleep by then. If I don't go to bed early then I will be thinking of you and wondering how things are going though.
